Dariya Wali Masjid this mosque gets its name from its very place as its besides the banks of river Gomti. Masjid (mosque) holds a very special place geographically, and historically as it falls at the center of six monuments, Machchi Bhavan, King George Medical College ( Built later) & The Bada Imambara-all on left. Rumi Gate, & Tile Wali Masjid (mosque)built later-all on the front. Finally Pucca Pul (built later)on the right. It is around 150 years or more old.
There used to be a huge market surrounding this mosque during Muharram full of beautiful Taziyas and Zaris full of colours and light and perfumes and scents from craftsmen of all creed and caste and religion to please their ruler Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula who used to inspect this heavenly market and gave gold and silver and gems in gifts.
In moharram procession being taken from (mosque) to Imambara Guranmaab every year on the 8th of Moharram in the after the majlis (Lecture) of Maulana (shia cleric) Kalbe Jawwad.
This Mosque was built by Ramzan Ali Khan along with an Imambara and The Vill (Kothi) of Ramzan Ali Khan was adjacent to this Mosque. The Indian mutiny brought downfall of many monuments of Lucknow as Many of them were either confiscated by the British looter or destroyed by the so called civilized british illegal regime.
